Shoes2School- a Bulawayo youth driven movement aims to collect school shoes for donation to underprivileged students in the country.
Running under the theme Walk in My Shoes, the campaign kick off on August 19 to September 23.
Every Saturday, outside OK Zimbabwe, situated at corner 9th Av and J. Moyo Street, volunteering social influencers will handle the Shoes2School stand interchangeably for the duration of the campaign.
The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the Shoes2School cause in the Bulawayo public, collect the campaign’s set target of 250 or more school shoes and Influence the public (especially young people) to take part in socially responsible activities.
In June 2016 Shoes2School managed to successfully carry out its first project in Nkayi at Mdengelele primary school where 104 pupils received school shoes (with 68% being brand new shoes). All the shoes were collected from well-wishers and accounted for.
In November 2016 the movement donated 20 pairs of school shoes and 100 mathematical sets through partnering with an organization referred to as “An Act of Kindness”.
Shoes2School mobilized a lunch event at Thembiso children’s home in Luveve Bulawayo on the 24th of December 2016. This event included fun games and motivational talks to the 40+ resident children.
