Cal Vin war with Skyz Metro FM escalates….Radio station bans his music, no skyz metro awards nomination for him

Bulawayo artist, Cal Vin’s nasty war with Bulawayo’s only and first commercial radio station Skyz metro FM which started in August has reached alarming levels.

The whole issue started when the radio station delayed the rapper’s payment after their first anniversary celebrations which also featured South African star Professor, Stiff, Sandra Ndebele, and Amara Brown at White City stadium in August. This angered Cal Vin who took to twitter and said unprintable words.

“It all started off when they delayed my payment, I confronted them (Skyz Metro FM) and their finance personnel Thandi Muringa, I then got paid that was it. After the dust had settled the station launched their inaugural music awards without a  hip-hop category, I made noise again on twitter and then I said they shouldn’t play my music if they don’t appreciate hip-hop.

Next thing I hear they don’t want to interview my boys I produce for-GTI and Mawiza because they are under me, an act I think it’s aimed to fix me. I called them to inquire why they are fixing innocent artists cause of me but they were adamant and said they are following my instruction. I think their move was stupid, it’s stupid of them taking such things seriously and personal- how they can ban everyone that I work with,” said Cal Vin.

The Luveve born rapper said the station manager Godwin Phiri told him to make a public apology on Twitter to the station and Thandi Muringa.

“Phiri said if I want everything to go away I should make a public apology on Twitter to the station and Thandi which I won’t do. I can do other things but not apologise to Thandi the same person who delayed my payment because she had a personal vendetta with me and made me suffer to get my money,” he said.

However the station manager Godwin Phiri said Cal Vin was not being truthful about the whole issue.

“It’s only his songs that we are not playing after he asked for them to be removed but as for his boys we accommodate them. We respect our artists if they say don’t do this we comply,” said Phiri.

GTI and Mawiza who are under Cal Vin’s stable are reported to have been denied a radio interview last week. Asked why they didn’t grant the artists an interview Phiri couldn’t retort clearly.

“His boys were here last week for an interview and one of our presenters asked me if we can do it with them and I said yes, but I am not really sure if the interview went on,” he said.

Quizzed if the scandal doesn’t affect his career and also his counterparts his response was…

“No we don’t need radio they can keep their radio, my boys are going to blow up without radio, we have the internet now,”

Last night the radio station unveiled nominees for their awards ceremony set for December 21 and Cal Vin is not part of the list.

“He said we should stop playing his music so it doesn’t make sense adding him on the nominees list,” said Phiri.
