Artists gave us half baked albums to beat submission deadline: Beefy

Now that the Zim hip-hop awards nominees list is out, the talk now is who is not and who is supposed to be on the list.

Announcing the nominees on ZiFM Stereo on Friday, awards Director Beefy Harrison (pictured) said they received a total of 35 submissions for the best album category.

Eventually only six made the cut- Poy’s short cuts to heaven, Stunner –stray bullet, Tulk munny- chepa jecha, Noble styles – better than your album, R peels -Zviri eva beautiful and Few kings’ feeling aint fear.

Beefy said many artists hurriedly made albums towards the close of submissions.

“Some of the albums were half baked for awards, we have poor produced albums made only to beat the submission deadline,” said Beefy.

Among the albums released in October, the month of submission are Noble Stylz’ Better than your album, POY’s short cut to heaven, Floppy X’s X Factor, P Mula- Believe in Mula, Kikky Bad ass’ Queen of the south only to mention a few.

Meanwhile Tehn Diamond and POY lead the list with a total of six and five nominations respectively.

The awards will for the first time be hosted outside Harare in Bulawayo on December 9.
