‘Cal Vin made peace with everyone before his death’

Controversial rapper Cal Vin who died last Sunday in Bulawayo, passed on after smoking the peace pipe with many of his rivals.

Cal Vin known for picking up fights with almost everyone mended broken relationships with Asaph, NguDoni, POY and local radio station Skyz Metro FM, just before his death.

The radio station and the rapper were at loggerheads resulting in Esabantu (Skyz Metro FM) muting Cal Vin’s music.

The Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe, (VMCZ) intervened two weeks before the rapper’s death and made both parties  find common ground.

Cal Vin’s music was back on the airwaves and his last media interview was with Skyz Metro FM’s Khaya were he spoke out on his career and what he deemed being misunderstood.

For more than five years, NguDoni and Cal Vin were ‘enemies’ that did not see each-other  eye to eye after a nasty fall out.

NguDoni revealed that its only a few months back when Cal Vin approached him so that they mend broken relations. The reconciliation resulted in the two getting into the studio to record a song dubbed Ngiyileyi which was released two weeks before his death.

On his YouTube channel, Cal Vin described the song as a reconciliation song, “Reconciliation Single, after years of not seeing eye to eye, Hip Hop Wins”.

“We were young kids who had reached a point that we crossed each other. How it started is now not relevant, the best is he (Cal Vin) as big as he was means a lot, it doesn’t make me special but I see him as a big brother,” NguDoni said.

Asaph described Cal Vin as a brother.

“My relationship with Cal Vin was brotherly. As brothers you have good and bad times. We had history, we came from way back from the days of doing gospel and he even executive directed my first two albums. The last moments we had we were recording a cypher with Orthodox S I X and Prozac and we were even planning on going to Harare to record it,” he said.

POY described Cal Vin as a talented musician.

“He was talented, he could write, sing, rap, produce and market his own music as well as how to use shock value on social media. He was never afraid of controversy, I remember he used to say don’t be afraid of getting dirty as long as the people are talking about you, stay relevant,” he said.
