Fake News: LA Galaxy dismiss Bulawayo scholarship trials advert

Los Angeles Galaxy has dismissed an advert that has been circulating on social media and some Zimbabwean media outlets purporting that the American soccer club will hold football scholarship trials in Bulawayo on November 21.

Los Angeles Galaxy, LA Galaxy is an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Galaxy competes in Major League Soccer.

The article is carried on an online platform called iHarareJobs and carries LA Galaxy logo, implying that the American club is spearheading the trials.

“Here is another big opportunity for the youth in Zimbabwe. The date is 21st November 2021 at Baster Stadium Bulawayo Zimbabwe.

This scholarship will take you to the United States of America or any part of Europe. On this date, professional scouts and football agents will be availably noticing the pure raw talent that needs mentorship.

In a communique to Fokus Magazine, LA Galaxy media team labeled the article as fake news.

“This is not true. Please report that this is a fake,” said LA Galaxy.

When Fokus Magazine contacted the number on the advert, registered under the name Misheck Utete, he was evasive in distancing himself from the advert.

“I represent Droom Soccer Academy and we will have our own trials that will take people to Europe but this one being shared on social media with my number, I do not know about it. It’s a scam it’s someone trying to be funny and tarnishing my name in the process,” he said.

LA Galaxy is home to Zlatan Ibrahimović, former England star David Beckham joined LA Galaxy in 2007 for a four-year stint.
