Thatha Wena completes debut season

After three months of airing on ZBC TV, the debut season of Thatha Wena hosted by Gilmore Tee and Mbo Mahocs came to an end on Thursday.

The show is a Pan African conversational show from Zimbabwe that gives voice to the sort of conversations our society should be having.

Thatha Wena spoke to  innovative and progressive individuals, the decision makers and the industrialists.

Individuals such as Cultural Fundi – Pathisa Nyathi, appeared in the early stages of the show, talking about food and culture.

CEO of United Refineries – Busisa Moyo, also featured on the show conversing on successful Africans and expectations that follow them. This episode had a lot of light being shed on the dependency syndrome our African community seem to be comfortable in, it brought to light how best we can create a sustainable society.

Media Personalities such as Soneni Gwizi, Zwa Ndlovu, Zenzele Ndebele, Publisher – Jane Morris, Award Winning Poet –Philani Nyoni, Business Woman – Nontokozo Masuku, Moses Kalembela from the Ndau Collection, Musicians – Ramadu Moyo, Hudson Simbarashe, Nobuntu and Forbes 30 under 30 – Takunda Chingonzo, where some of the people who made sure the conversations of the show were outstanding.

One of the interesting segments was What Grinds My Gears, which addressed social problems caused by us as individuals and how we can take control over them and improve them as a community.

During its debut season, Thatha Wena got nominated for Outstanding TV Production at the Inaugural Bulawayo Arts Awards which were held at the City Hall in the City of Kings.

My team and I are extremely excited to have had the opportunity to present this project to the audience who have been amazing in terms of feedback, positive or negative.Our aim was for us to highlight those in our community that are doing incredible works and have an opinion on issues that we ought to know about and converse on.

We are glad that we managed to create conversation not only in Zimbabwe, but across the continent on and offline. Our guests are amazing individuals who made time to chat with us and also highlight on their knowledge on the different topics we dished out every episode. Season 2 will be bigger and better, we are honoured and excited” – said Gilmore Teep, Host & Executive Producer.
