Flamboyant businessman, Wicknell Chivayo has pledged to pay Highlanders Football club’s $4 000 fine for causing violence leading to the abandonment of their match against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium last month.
Chivayo made the announcement on social media in a post accompanied by his picture with the Bosso chairman Modern Ngwenya.
“BOSSO NGENKANI… I was speaking to our respectable Highlanders Chairman Modern Ngwenya over the weekend. I was so impressed by his sentiments that “soccer results are determined in football grounds not in board rooms” I assured him that on his instruction simply by text or phone call I will definitely go and pay the 4000 dollars fine to PSL with my eyes closed. I told him I will go one better and do them a favour and go in person myself and pay it in cash so that they can get a chance to also meet one of Highlanders life time supporter who don’t condone violence… Enough said and to cut a long story short Asifuni Bumbulu,” he posted.

The match prematurely ended after only 40 minutes after Dynamos striker Christian Ntouba leveled the scoreline to 1-1 after Rahman Kutsanzira had put the Bulawayo giants ahead.
Highlanders’ fans were not happy with second assistant referee Thomas Kusosa, who they said should have charged Ntouba’s goal for offside and started throwing missiles in the field of play till the referee called off the match.- Matchday Zimbabwe
